Dear George Papazafeiropoulos,
Is it possible to read data from an Abaqus/CFD analysis using Abaqus 2016. The Abaqus 2016 documentation only details alternative output formats such as EXODUS-II format for field output and CSV format for history output and it does not give any details on generating a results (.fil) file.
Kind regards,
Conor
Dear George,
That worked, thanks again.
Kind regards,
Conor
The pressure values are printed at the integration point (centroid) of the elements.
Regarding the parameters in the Matlab script, they are as follows:
instanceName=DOMAIN-1; elsetName=AEROFOIL_ELEMENT;
Best.
Dear George,
The element type is an FC3D6.
I seem to be using the correct instance name,
Kind regards,
Conor
Dear Conor,
What type of elements do you use in the element set Aerofoil_element?
The Abaqus options for extracting PRESSURE from Aerofoil_element are correct. Regarding the input arguments in the Matlab code, you have to find the instance to which Aerofoil_element set belongs, and specify the name of this instance in the instanceName variable in the Matlab code. For this purpose, you can open the odb file in Abaqus/Viewer and check the drop-down model tree at the left of the Abaqus/Viewer window, to see the available instances in the odb, and select one of these for setting the instanceName variable in the Matlab code.
Best regards.
Hello Conor,
Thank you for your interest in Abaqus2Matlab.
It is not necessary to use the results file (*.fil) in an Abaqus/CFD analysis to read the result data in Matlab. You can simply use the Abaqus odb file that contains the Abaqus/CFD results, from which you can retrieve the desired data using Abaqus2Matlab. For this purpose you can use only the second version of Abaqus2Matlab (v.2.0) which contains the odb2Matlab component and is available for free download. Abaqus2Matlab/odb2Matlab is capable of reading any type of field or history output from Abaqus odb files.
Best regards!
