I am trying to find the coordinates of the Integration point (Element type : C3D8R, 1 Integration Point). I have the element label, Integration point number and S11 in the rpt file but no x,y and z components of integration point. Could you please help me with this problem?
I have tried adding the following commands in the INP file, however it doesn't work. (no coordinates in .dat file)
1. *Element Output, Position=Integration Points COORD
Hello Tusar,
I have already sent you an email.

Hello Sir
Thank you much for the information. I am really interested to see the difference in results. My email ID is : tusar.mohanty@utdallas.edu

Hello Tusar,
You are correct in selecting the record key 8 for obtaining the coordinates of the integration points from the results file.
You should know that for large displacements, the coordinates of the integration points change during the analysis and are different in each increment. In the case of geometrically linear analyses, the coordinates of the integration points do not change during the analysis.
In your case you have a geometrically linear analysis; you can of course request the COORD element output, but the coordinates of the integration points that you will obtain from the fil file will be constant during the analysis.
If you want, you can give me your email to send you some files showing the difference in the coordinates of the integration points between a geometrically linear and nonlinear analysis.
Best,
George
Hello Sir
I got the value of coordinates for integration point using REC8 ouput file.
My doubt is, In the abaqus documentation, The COORD is only used for "Large displacement option" or "NLGEOM=ON". However, in my case I haven't opted for non-linear geometry. So the values that i get for the coordinates using .fil file for my case, are they correct?
Does coordinate value change with NLGEOM option?
Thanks
I even used the following in INP File
*EL FILE, POSITION=INTEGRATION POINTS
S
E
COORD
